Novare Surgical Systems Information

Based in Cupertino, California and founded in 1999, Novare develops, manufactures and markets devices for minimally invasive surgery. RealHand® High Dexterity (HD) Instruments were developed entirely at Novare Surgical and represent a shift in the company’s focus toward devices for minimally invasive surgery. First introduced and used clinically in 2006, RealHand HD instruments are the very first seven degree of freedom hand-held laparoscopic instruments. Developed with the EndoLink® mechanism, RealHand technology is designed to mirror the surgeon’s hand direction with the added benefit of tactile feedback. As such, when the surgeon’s hand moves in one direction, the instrument tip exactly follows. The invention of RealHand HD instruments has placed Novare at the forefront of emerging minimally invasive therapies such as single port surgery and natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) and the company is committed to the surgeons and patients who benefit from this advancement in instrumentation. In the cardiac surgery arena, Novare developed the Enclose II Device, which is used in off pump coronary artery bypass surgery. The Enclose® II proximal anastomotic assist device was designed specifically to obviate the need for partial clamping of the aorta. The Enclose device can provide the surgeon with a stable, bloodless field and dramatically better hemodynamics as compared to partial occlusion clamps.
