Notes From Another Land Information

Amy Maureen Lynch began Notes From Another Land as a creative writing ritual and artist practice to remain connected to her roots on a farm in Eastern Ontario, Canada and experience working within Canada's arts community, while living, studying and working in Brisbane, Australia from 2010-13. She brought it with her to Ireland and later England, where she visited other farms, artists' studios, workshops and galleries, exploring the mediums of photography, surface pattern design, painting and printmaking while living in NW London. Her first 'official' group exhibition was with West Hampstead Watercolour Painting in 2016. After relocating back to the family farm in Canada and later Ottawa, with her partner and first baby, she continued working as a marketing contractor and welcomed two more children. Between those babies, Amy was introduced to the owner of a local pottery studio and retail space, who she began working with as a corporate client. A years long friendship began and it was there in 2019, when she first explored making pottery by hand, getting muddy, creating something solid from wet clay and raw minerals. She continued taking casual pottery classes until an unexpected life incident forced her to take a pause, limit screen time, prioritize her health and recovery in 2023. Mindful making by hand and growing organic flowers became a seasonal ritual: She joined a local community studio and a gallery as a member and began firing, glazing and selling handbuilt ceramics locally. It has evolved into a creative practice: Providing original art and organic flowers, at the intersection of expression, nature and wellbeing.
