The current procurement model, employed globally throughout the coffee sector, is detrimental to carbon neutrality targets the industry must set and attain very quickly. We must bring an end to widespread modern-day slavery and child labour that haunts the coffee industry today in 2021, a huge step to achieving this would be by ending the practice of removing farming communities from the supply chain immediately before the point of value generation (roasting stage).
