Region Skåne, or Skåne Regional Council, is the self-governing authority of Skåne, the southernmost county of Sweden. Region Skåne has its head office in the city of Kristianstad and has work places in every municipality in Skåne. Region Skåne is responsible for healthcare and medical services, the development of trade and industry, public transport, culture and cooperation with other regions in and outside Sweden. The City of Helsingborg covers an area of 346 km2 and our population right now is 151,306, of which 95,339 people live in the urban area. We are now Sweden's eighth largest municipality and eighth largest city (in the urban area). In 1900 the population of Helsingborg was only 24,670. There are 17 parishes and 13 small villages with more than 200 inhabitants. There is a net influx of about 1,000 people every year. The average age in the town is just over 40.
