The Community Foundation of West Georgia partners with local non-profit organizations, individuals and companies, to increase opportunities to serve those in need, to beautify and to enhance the quality of life for the people of Carroll, Haralson and Heard Counties.
The entire community benefits from the Foundation as it increases the total pool of philanthropic resources available for charitable activity in the West Georgia region. The Foundation strengthens the self-sufficiency of the nonprofit sector and serves as a resource and a catalyst for charitable activities and organizations.
Local organizations apply for grants to support programs that serve the community in one of six areas: education, human services, environmental improvement, medical and hospice care, art and cultural activities, and economic development. All donations are designated for use in the local community.
It is the mission of the Hillsdale County Community Foundation to receive and administer funds for artistic, charitable, educational, and scientific purposes in a manner that both promotes the spirit of philanthropy and meets the needs of the people of Hillsdale County.
Compassion Foundation was founded in 1989 by a group of community leaders in collaboration with the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) in Aurora, Illinois and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Compassion Foundation provides grants for non-profit organizations that are working to improve the quality of the lives of people in need. By joining together as a Foundation, we are no longer just one individual, but have become a People of God who bring His compassion to a broken world. Since our inception in 1989, we have given over $800,000 in grants to organizations that provide programs improving and enriching all aspects of the lives of those most in need. The Compassion Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Funding for Compassion Foundation grants comes from three annual fundraisers: our Annual Golf Classic, our Lucky Ducky Derby and our Community of Champions Recognition Dinner. Recognizing our role as world caretakers, we were also pleased to be able to help missions in Haiti, Papua New Guinea, and South Africa . We give our grants based on need, not creed. We are asking you to consider a gift this year to the Compassion Foundation. With your help, we will be able to assist individuals and organizations who are serving those people most in need. In this particularly difficult economic climate, your assistance is vital to ensuring that we may continue our mission.
