Nordic Designers' Aid Information

Nordic Designers Aid is a Danish not-for-profit organisation working with sustainability, design, art and social change in Denmark and South Africa. The organisation is based on a volunteer network consisting of individuals, institutions, designers and social entrepreneurs who all share a passion to create a more equal, fair and sustainable world. Our work in Denmark We are based in Copenhagen where we collaborate with Danish designers who donate their surplus stock and sample collections to us. Surplus stock and sample collections often end up in a warehouse collecting dust on the shelves – or, in worst case scenario, is thrown on the dump. This is a solution that is not environmentally friendly – nor does it make any sense to the designers themselves. They have therefore chosen to donate the clothes to us and to the good cause. After the clothes has been donated to us, we ship it to South Africa where we sell it at our own Fashion Fundraising event. All profit is donated to social upliftment programs in South Africa. Our work in South Africa We support programs that facilitate social change and empower girls and young women in South Africa. Working within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals our vision is to enable and inspire girls in rural areas to take part in the local development of sustainable and peaceful communities. We are active in the actual planning and implementation of the programs that we support and they are implemented locally by our partner organisation Crafting Hope. An important goal in this regard is to assure that we can help people to help themselves – enabling and empowering them to build better lives for themselves as well as strong and peaceful communities.
