Nomisma was designed and built by two visionary entrepreneurs who are high-achieving professionals in their own fields of accounting, business management and technology. Having detected the gap in the accountancy software market, Sumit Agarwal looked at how he could leverage the deficiencies of off-the-shelf alternatives. The objective was to design and build a platform to connect contractors/small businesses, financial professionals, and the banking and tax systems of the UK, while also providing the capability to work across the global marketplace. Seeking to streamline many of the manual processes of accounting while automating others, Nomisma's automation capabilities include the ability to make "intelligent"​ decisions about business and personal taxation and VAT. Nomisma's modernisation of accountancy methods does not stop there: it can manage receipts and expenses, reimburse them, process allowances and calculate dividends. By creating greater transparency it also provides better security, not least by offering protection against human error. Together, all of these dynamic features of Nomisma create its most unique feature: an automated monthly statement based on the data provided.
