Nippertown, the award-winning daily internet publication, is devoted to the music and arts scene of the Albany area. Launched in 2009 by Greg “Sarge” Haymes and Sara Ayers, the website ran for ten years under their guidance. In 2019, Jim Gilbert and Laura DaPolito rebranded and relaunched the site and they continue Nipper’s keen reputation for bending the ear on the arts, covering music, art, theatre, and cultural events within an hour of New York state’s capital. Nippertown’s reach extends beyond Albany, into the greater Capital Region, the Hudson Valley, and western Massachusetts. The Nippertown staff offers a unique and eclectic view on the local scene and has earned The Capital Region Eddies Award in both 2019 and 2020 as Best Arts Publication. In 2021, Nippertown added a comprehensive events calendar, video interviews, multiple podcasts, and expanded partnerships with other local online and print publications.
