Niche Decor owner and accomplished designer, Jean Bisnaire creates timeless spaces that provide innovative and affordable solutions to various client needs. Whether you are looking to build a home from the blueprint stage or taking your existing space from outdated to outstanding, he's your man. By drawing on his substantial experience over his 25 years in the industry, and the inspiration he finds in everyday designs, Jean is able to create cost-efficient and design-forward solutions. His easy going and genuine personality complements his attentive and sincere approach to creating distinct and personal solutions that suit you and your lifestyle. Our treasured Operations Manager, Shima Yazdan joined our team as an intern in 2004. Once she completed her studies at U of T, she continued on her career path with us and hasn't look back. Known for her multi-tasking skills, Shima continues to take on greater responsibilities and challenges, while developing a deep appreciation with all aspects of design. She enjoys working alongside an easy-going and incredibly talented boss and a close-knit team of great people, while meeting the needs of clients who are as passionate about their spaces as she is. She has traveled with Jean as a buyer to trade shows in North Carolina, Atlanta, Las Vegas and China, acquiring an extensive mental inventory of furniture she can source within minutes. An invaluable member of our team, Barb Read has been in the interior design/ visual merchandising fields for over 20 years, and has been with Niche Decor as Head Merchandiser and In House Design Consultant since 2008. As she hails from the East Coast, Barb started her post-secondary education with a Psychology degree from Dalhousie University. Soon after, she traveled west to Calgary where she met her future husband and continued her education studying Interior Design at Mount Royal College. After graduating from college, Unionville became their new home where they raised two daughters. Barb finds this industry very exciting: "Things are always changing and evolving. Attending trade shows is particularly thrilling, as I get to shop and it doesn't cost me a dime!" Jennifer Minka joined the Niche Decor team in mid 2012. Having graduated with a diploma in interior design nearly three years ago her work experience has given her the opportunity to work with various residential projects in respect to scale and design aesthetics. Her design approach starts with implementing the highest level of functionality and then focusing on the details within a space that reflect each clients' unique personality and lifestyle. Donna Matta has been working as an Interior decorator since 2005 and is a graduate of Seneca College where she graduated with honours. Donna also has an honours degree from York University in History and has travelled extensively. With her passion and natural flair for interiors, Donna is dedicated to building life long relationships with her clients who call upon her as their lifestyles and needs change. She exceeds expectations by continuously going that extra mile and her down to earth, positive and realistic approach ensures she is constantly in demand. With over seven years industry experience Donna's experience is vast and impressive. Chantal Charles-Russell has been a designer with Niche Decor for three years. Her specialty is in drafting and detailing, and she loves taking on large scale projects and working drawing packages. She has a particular eye for detail, and is meticulous in her work. She has an analytical mind, and approaches interior design from a very logical standpoint, and believes in function over form. She found her passion for design by working for herself as an independent contractor, and this background has given her an edge in understanding building practices. Over the years, she has traveled extensively throughout Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa. She uses her travels for her inspiration, and has a love of diverse architecture, art, and design. Chantal adores working at Niche Decor, and she aspires to grow as a designer and learn from the multi-talented crew she works alongside. Derek Sharpe joined the Niche family in 2013 to head up our commercial and hospitality division. Derek has an extensive background in construction, sales and management, where he developed a meticulous work ethic. With a keen eye for form and function, the transition into the design world was seamless. Derek enjoys building exceptional working relationships while incorporating our firm's design ideas to add the "niche" flare to our corporate projects. "I love the atmosphere here at Niche, I am surrounded by hard working, radiant, and fun people". A business management graduate with over 20 years of industry experience, Peter has provided top-level customer service to companies such as Enbridge Gas, National Research Corporation, and now Niche Decor. His calm demeanour and kind personality makes him the perfect addition to our team as he looks after the everyday warehouse needs, and ensures customer satisfaction by providing on-call product assembly, repairs, and display assistance.
