NGO SOFOSH Information

Society of Friends of Sassoon Hospitals, or SOFOSH, was founded in 1964 by a group of public-spirited citizens. The aim was to supplement the medical services provided by the hospital through a range of humanitarian services for crisis-affected patients & their families and to support the hospital itself by providing much-needed facilities. SOFOSH's programs include: - Patient Welfare a. HIV/AIDS Project b. TB Project c. Burns Project d. Material & Medical Assistance e. Nutrition Clinic and Health Education Program f. Donation of useful equipment to the hospital - Childcare Activities a. 'Shreevatsa' - Child Care Centre b. Adoption c. 'TARA' - Home for Mentally Challenged Children - Counseling Activities a. Patient Counseling b. Pre and post-adoptive family counseling c. Counseling for children d. Services for women in crisis e. Training for social work students
