Swim England (formerly known as the Amateur Swimming Association) is the national governing body for swimming in England. We help people learn how to swim, enjoy the water safely, and compete in all our sports. Our vision is of a nation swimming and we strive to inspire everyone to enjoy the water in the way that suits them. We work with our partners to create engaging programmes that enable everyone to be active, have fun and stay healthy through swimming. Each month millions of people are able to enjoy swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming because they have been through our renowned Learn to Swim Programme. Ensuring people are safe in the water is of paramount importance to us and so we work closely with partners to keep water safety high on the national agenda. At our heart we are a membership organisation dedicated to supporting our clubs and members to develop and succeed. We maintain the laws of the sport and run world-class national events that are open to all. We also operate a comprehensive range of qualification and education programmes for teachers, coaches, officials and tutors.

British Swimming is the National Governing Body for Swimming, Para-Swimming, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Water Polo and Open Water in Great Britain. It is responsible internationally for the high performance representation of the sport. The members of British Swimming are the three Home Countries' national governing bodies of England (Swim England), Scotland (Scottish Swimming) and Wales (Swim Wales). British Swimming seeks to enable its athletes to achieve gold medal success at the Olympics, Paralympics, World Championships and Commonwealth Games.

Swim Wales is the National Governing Body for swimming, water-polo, diving and associated aquatic disciplines in Wales. The organisation was formed in 1897 as the Welsh Amateur Swimming Association and adopted the trading name of Swim Wales in 2003. It is responsible for establishing the laws of the sport, for organising certification and education programmes for coaches, officials and teachers, and for recreational swimming, aiming to ensure that everybody in Wales has the opportunity to learn to swim. Swim Wales is structured regionally—with over 90 member clubs and a combined membership of over 30,000 members in the South East Wales, West Wales and North Wales regions—supporting their affiliated swimming, diving, water polo, masters and para clubs. It manages the development of competitive swimming sports from starter to international level, and organises competitions, including closed, national and open championships.
