TCI was established on 19th of June, 1971 with a capital of 5 billion Rials. Mobile Communication Company of Iran(MCI) was commissioned by TCI in 1993. MCI was separated from TCI to operate as an independent legal entity in 2004. In compliance with the article 44 of the constitution, the privatization of TCI was switched on with the first phase of selling its shares in the stock exchange market on 9th of August, 2008. The presence of competitors and the emerging of new IT-based technologies completely changed the conditions for TCI in the market.
