NewsTeam builds modern publishing tools for newsrooms. We started in 2015 as F8 Development, founded and run by three experienced engineers with deep roots in publishing and backgrounds across other digital industries. Before NewsTeam, the three directors worked across a range of digital industries before joining forces at Media24, where we led a development team focused on solving the very real problem of monetising digital news. Over the last decade, our platforms have powered more than 50 publications and major media brands, including titles like: Netwerk24, Sunday Times, IOL, Business Day, The Star, Financial Mail, GQ, Mpasho, Glamour, Vrye Weekblad and SowetanLive, among others. We have built and operated enterprise CMS platforms, supported high traffic newsrooms, handled large scale migrations, integrated subscription and reader revenue systems, and worked with almost every ad stack in use. That experience exposed a deeper problem. Publishers spend too much time maintaining technology that was never designed to adapt easily, experiment cheaply, or evolve with new formats and distribution models. NewsTeam is our response. We are launching a cloud native publishing platform designed for news, independent of format, channel or medium. Content is stored as structured data, not HTML blobs. Content, curation and products are decoupled by design, allowing publishers to launch new sites, apps and formats without painful migrations or rebuilds. The platform is enterprise grade and comparable to the most premium systems on the market, but built smarter and optimised to be accessible to publishers of all sizes. Everyone runs on the same SaaS platform, improvements benefit everyone, and lock in is avoided by design. We believe technology should not be what differentiates publishers. Journalism, storytelling and impact should. Our role is to make the tooling disappear, so newsrooms can focus on the work that actually matters.
