New Ridge Technologies (NRT) has been acquired by Luna Innovations. (NASDAQ: LUNA). Now operating as Luna, NRT develops and manufactures advanced fiber optic subsystems and test and measurement equipment primarily for telecommunication applications. NRT’s founding products were Polarization Mode Dispersion Sources, used to determine the tolerance of transponders and systems to fiber PMD at bit rates from 10G to 100G. NRT’s programmable PMD Sources were recognized as the ‘Cadillac’ of PMD sources and emulators. The NRT PMD Sources, and associated products, uniquely enabled our customers to quantitatively predict the outage probability of optical transport systems due for any level of PMD in the network. More recently NRT products have focussed on polarization and spectral analysis. The NRT-25xx series set out to recreate polarization control and tracking for 21st century requirements. Specifically our ‘Spinner’ function refined the way polarization speed response is tested worldwide. The NRT-8000 is a palm size C-band optical spectrum analyzer targeting high accuracy, excellent resolution while being very price sensitive.
