New Jersey Innovation Institute Information

New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) is focused on fostering innovation and having a positive economic impact in New Jersey by serving as a conduit between the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and the outside world. NJIT is a highly productive R1 research institution with substantial physical assets and human capital, but like most universities, these resources are challenging to harness outside of small-scale faculty led research and interactions with the outside community are fragmented and isolated. The purpose of NJII is to leverage the vast resources of NJIT to accelerate technology translation, upskill workers and foster innovation through harnessing governmental and private industry partnerships. NJII is uniquely positioned to accomplish this purpose through being a standalone 501(c)(3) corporation that is wholly owned by NJIT but is autonomous and able to be agile, entrepreneurial and opportunistic. To date, NJII has generated over $330M in revenue during its ten years of operation across its four divisions (Healthcare, Defense and Homeland Security, Professional & Corporate Education, Entrepreneurship) and today has a team of 120 staff.
