New Heights Preparatory School is the result of a 12 year collaboration. It was established in Santa Monica In 1971. The school quickly established a reputation for academic and artistic excellence, and has become a leader within the Southern California independent school community. New Heights offers an intellectually demanding and creative curriculum within a supportive, personal environment that has at its base in the notion of safety, equity, and inclusion for all. New Heights strives to help each student develop a personal commitment to learning, a respect for independent thinking, a sense of social commitment, an appreciation of the valuable traditions of the past, and a concern for the future. New Heights students are provided a spectrum of program opportunities including visual arts, literature, languages, music, math, drama, history, science, dance, athletics, computer science, community service, and environmental/experiential education. A genuine, rigorous, college preparatory education joins the life of the mind with the joy of spirit. By providing an education in balance, we give our graduates the most precious gift of all: a passion for life and learning that sends them off to college eager and ready to meet new challenges. New Heights is accepting all children who are motivated and interested in an environment that enhances their desire to succeed in academic endeavors. Individual students study at a manageable pace to maximize learning, and have access to study groups and one-on-one support. New Heights' Middle & High School Community comprise a diverse group of individuals, all working towards the development of each member's maximum human potential. We take into consideration the unique nature of each student, and "customize" their school experience to best meet their academic needs. Our program provides students the opportunity to prepare for the academic, social, and creative challenges that higher learning and life have to offer. New Heights Preparatory School has adopted a culture of respect, honesty, ethics, and family values based on the student's ability to make correct choices. New students immerse themselves in the culture within a few days and never look back. Harnessing positive peer modeling of community values, students become part of a social environment that builds self esteem and character, enhancing the student's ability to achieve academic success. We offer numerous enrichment activities that complement our regular programs and provide high school and college credits as well. Our technical and creative arts program is dedicated to developing creative problem solving skills through art, science, computer science, computer graphic design, & technology. These activities enhance our students' abilities to enter top academic and professional universities. Other programs offered include robotics, aviation, visual arts, performing arts (theater and classical/contemporary music), film, and character animation. Many of these classes are supported by parents and professionals who actively participate as teachers and tutors.
