Neurophoenix is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company arising from academic research carried out at Institut Pasteur. It holds two complementary patented technologies. VHH_NPX is a single-domain antibody engineered to cross two barriers that stop most therapeutics: the blood–brain barrier, and then the plasma membrane of the neuron itself — releasing its cargo directly into the cytosol rather than leaving it trapped in the endosomal compartment. NVshort is a short neuroprotective and neuroregenerative peptide, derived from a rabies virus glycoprotein motif, which selectively inactivates the PTEN–MAST2 interaction and reactivates the survival pathway of the adult neuron. Their combination, the fusion protein NPX461, has protected retinal ganglion cells and produced axonal regeneration in vivo in optic nerve injury. Both technologies are covered by international patent applications co-owned with Institut Pasteur.
