Why Superfood Mushrooms? Mushrooms are seriously under-appreciated in the United States. Fungi make up 2 percent of the Earth's biomass (200x that of humans), are used for life-saving medications, and yes, some are psychedelic (not ours - don't worry). In fact, there are 5.1 million species of mushrooms on this planet, but 98% of the mushrooms consumed in the United States are from just one species: button mushrooms ( Agaricus bisporus). By diving deeper into the world of medicinal mushrooms, we learned that some species, like Chaga and Lion's Mane, have superfood qualities.
