Californians deserve a government that works for them and with them. One that will work to ensure opportunity and justice. We are building a California not for the few, but for all — including those who have historically been left out.
We are doing the work to make our state a place for every Californian and all the diversity that makes us strong. Our state will be known as a place where everyone is respected, protected, and connected.
It has been over five decades since President Johnson’s Committee on Highway Traffic Safety recommended creating a national certification agency to establish uniform standards for training, monitoring, and vetting personnel active in the delivery of emergency ambulance services. The result was the establishment of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians in 1970.
Since its initiation, the National Registry has certified over 2 million EMS providers nationwide. Today, more than 500,000 individuals are nationally certified at the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced-EMT (AEMT), or Paramedic level.
The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) is the voice for over 110,000 EMS professionals. Since 1975, we've supported the interests of paramedics, EMTs, EMRs, and all those who provide critical out-of-hospital care.
We advocate for quality patient care, provide cutting-edge education, and drive EMS innovation across all sectors: government, fire departments, hospitals, private companies, military, and beyond.
Join us in shaping the future of EMS. Connect with NAEMT to access resources, advance your career, and be part of a community committed to excellence.
