For more than one hundred years, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134, and the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) of City of Chicago, have shown Chicago and the world, the power of partnership. From the ground up, our team has helped realize many of Chicago’s most renowned and important structures and landmarks, setting new benchmarks for quality and safety in electrical construction. We’ve helped shape Chicago, by powering up many historic firsts of our city, including Daniel Burnham’s groundbreaking lakefront plan, installing Chicago’s first telephone system and wiring the city’s first subway – not to mention helping build the city’s first skyscrapers, homes, churches, hospitals, high-rise apartments, airports and theaters. We’ve helped build many of Chicago’s unique landmarks, such as the Willis Tower, Wrigley Field, O’Hare Field and The Art Institute of Chicago. In 2015 we development a state-of-the-art Renewable Energy Training Field at our IBEW-NECA Technical Institute (INTECH) in Alsip, IL, taking yet another step forward by providing a one-of-a-kind, hands-on training environment and technology showcase for a an industry quickly adapting to Renewable Energy.
