NebraskaBEST Builds, Empowers and Supports relationships between landlords and tenants to maintain stable housing. Together, Nebraska will become its BEST! NebraskaBEST is based on creating a partnership with landlords and tenants, as well as organizations in the community, to prevent evictions and reduce homelessness. We do this through the following: Long-term case management for tenants and landlords based on best practices to decrease evictions and homelessness through wrap-around support services. Financial incentives for eviction prevention and risk mitigation (damages to rental units) may be available. Education through individualized and cohort-style classes for tenants and landlords to inform them of their rights and responsibilities, budgeting, employment, etc. “Smart” renters: Tenants enrolled in the NEBEST program will receive training through RentWise, financial capability, lease agreements, rental upkeep, being a good neighbor, etc. Eviction Prevention: NebraskaBEST works with landlords to identify and remove barriers related to their tenants facing housing insecurity by: Guaranteed response to landlord/tenant concerns. Case Management for landlords and their tenant(s). Collaboration with agencies to provide and connect to community resources. Learning opportunities through workshops, lunch & learns, and in one-on-one settings. Conflict Resolution: The NEBEST Program works to resolve issues that occur. If further mediation is needed, NEBEST works with agencies to address any unresolved issues between landlords and tenants at no cost to either party.
