Nebraska Repertory Theatre creates innovative theatrical experiences to ignite the imagination, challenge the heart, promote an inclusive community, and inspire the next generation of theatre artists. In 1968, Dallas S. Williams and a group of visionary theatre artists took the first step toward establishing a professional theatre in Lincoln by founding the Nebraska Repertory Theatre. In 1988, Executive Director Tice L. Miller and Artistic Director Robert Hall forged a relationship with the Actors' Equity Association, the professional actors' union. The signing of the first Equity contract elevated Nebraska Rep's profile and ensured consistent excellence. In 2014, Artistic Director Virginia Smith stepped down after ten summer seasons. Senior leadership evaluated The Rep and explored ways to expand the theatre's reach and serve the community in exciting new ways. After a national search, current Artistic Director, Andy Park, was hired in January 2017 and Nebraska Rep relaunched as a year-round theatre. Today, Nebraska Repertory Theatre stands as the state's only professional regional theater and serves Nebraska by producing critically acclaimed productions of the highest caliber.
