Founded in 1928 as Taihoku Imperial University, our university has gone through a series of transformations to “National Taiwan University” named in 1945. At present, NTU consists of 16 Colleges, 58 Bachelor’s Degree Programs and 146 Graduate Institutes, entailing a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary studies including science, arts, humanities and other subjects. There are 35,000+ students and 6,000+ international students from 77 countries at our university. By 2028, NTU will celebrate its 100th anniversary as the first and oldest higher education organization in Taiwan. 國立臺灣大學自1928年創校以來，至今已邁向第94年。迄111學年度，本校已發展成為具有16個學院(含國際學院、創新設計學院、重點科技研究學院、共同教育中心、進修推廣學院)、3個專業學院(牙醫、獸醫、藥學)，58個學士班（含56個學系與2個學士學位學程）、146個研究所（含51個系所合一、57個獨立所、34個學位學程、4個院設班別），學生人數約35,043人（學士生17,117人、碩博士生17,926人）。展望未來，無論世界如何變動，臺大都會堅持改革，奮發精進持續創新，善盡大學社會責任，為臺灣的發展和進步貢獻力量。

Established in 1980, National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) in Kaohsiung plays a pivotal role in balancing educational resources between northern and southern Taiwan. Named after Dr. Sun Yat-sen, founder of the Republic of China, the university observes his birthday, November 12th, as its anniversary. Over the years, NSYSU evolved into a top-tier institution encompassing liberal arts, science, engineering, management, marine sciences, and social sciences. New additions in 2022 include the College of Medicine, the School of Banking and Finance, and the College of Semiconductor and Advanced Technology Research. Since 2006, NSYSU received funding under the "Aim for the Top University Plan" and "Higher Education Sprout Project," establishing itself as a leading higher education institution. A ten-year "Global Top Research University" plan, initiated in 2019, focused on bilingual education, recognized by the Ministry of Education in 2020 as a benchmark bilingual campus. Renowned for research in areas like sustainable environment, bionic science, data analysis, semiconductors, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and sinology, NSYSU is internationally competitive. The university fulfills social responsibilities through education, innovative research, and community involvement projects, earning accolades such as the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards. Situated in Sizihwan, NSYSU's picturesque campus influences advancements in marine science research, aligning with Kaohsiung's vision to become Taiwan's Ocean Capital, solidifying its position as a leading academic institution in marine sciences.
