ACTFL is a membership organization of more than 10,000 language educators and administrators from elementary through graduate education, as well as government and industry.
Since its founding (in 1967), ACTFL has become synonymous with innovation, quality, and reliability in meeting the changing needs of foreign language educators and their students. From the development of Proficiency Guidelines, to its leadership role in the creation of national standards, ACTFL focuses on issues that are critical to the growth of both the profession and the individual teacher.
The National Language Service Corps (NLSC) is a congressionally authorized program that provides U.S. Federal agencies with vital language, regional expertise, and cultural support. When a critical language need arises, the NLSC taps its members to support Government agencies through translation, interpretation, instruction, and cultural advising.
The NLSC’s highly skilled membership of more than 12,500 language professionals offers expertise in over 550 languages and dialects. In turn, members benefit from a wide variety of professional training, testing, and networking opportunities provided by the NLSC.
