The American Psychological Association, in Washington, D.C., is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States and is the world's largest association of psychologists. APA's membership includes more than 157,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students. Through its divisions in 54 subfields of psychology and affiliations with 60 state, territorial and Canadian provincial associations, APA works to advance psychology as a science, as a profession and as a means of promoting human welfare. The mission of the APA is to advance the creation, communication, and application of psychological knowledge to benefit society and improve people’s lives.

The National Career Development Association (NCDA) is a division of the American Counseling Association (ACA). NCDA's mission is to promote the career development of all people across the life span. To achieve this mission, NCDA provides services to the public and to professionals involved in or interested in career development, including professional development activities, publications, research, public information, professional standards, advocacy, and recognition for achievement and service.

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW), in Washington, DC, is the largest membership organization of professional social workers. It promotes, develops, and protects the practice of social work and social workers. NASW also seeks to enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through its advocacy.
