Nautical Commission Information

The Nautical Commission was founded in 1802 as a result of the strong increase in seaborn traffic on the river Scheldt, up to and from the seaport of Antwerp. A decree based on old the French legislation "police de navigation et des ports de commerce" stipulated that no merchant marine ship could load cargo without being in an excellent state of seaworthines. Inspectors- Maritime Experts were to visit the ships and certify the condition of seaworthiness. In a later stage the Maritime Experts were elected to give independant expert advise to the Court of Commerce of Antwerp in relation to litigation in Shipping, Cargo and Port related matters. Nowadays the Nautical Commission is a modern expertise service company, capable in providing (independant) consulting and advise on all matters of cargo, port and transportation and storage related matters. The core group consists of Master Mariners with additional expertise in all aspects of ports, dry- and liquid storage, dry bulk-, container-, reefer- and oil- and gas (LNG, LPG, NH3, Petchem) shipping. The numerous successfully handled cases and projects indicades the broad range of services the Nautical Commission can bring, services largely in addition to the listing above. The Nautical Commission is capable to provide these services world-wide and in a expedeniant fashion. For more information contact Email: info@naucom.be Phone: +32 3 6440100
