National Institute for Driver Behavior Information

The National Institute for Driver Behavior is dedicated to the premise that education is an essential component in the formula for crash reduction. There is a need to have clearly defined criteria for driver behavior for all drivers so that they can, over a period of time, acquire and internalize a style of low-risk driving. MISSION 1) To provide learning opportunities for developing lifelong habits for space management. MISSION 2) To provide traffic safety educators with state-of-art digital materials (DVD's, Thumb drives, Online ) with a hierarchy structured to cultivate space management habit development. MISSION 3) To design, produce, and promote, training materials to help teachers and drivers achieve the following seven vital components necessary to Zero Crashes:1. Social Wellness: Healthy interaction with others and contribution of positive values to society.2. Visual Skills for Awareness: Effective use of vision to receive accurate and complete information affecting one's level of risk. 3. Information-Processing and Decision Making: Knowing what to look for and how to make non-destructive decisions. 4. Risk Prevention Space Management: Internalization of behavioral patterns that provide automatic space management for reduced-risk performance. 5. Vehicle Control: Being able to have command over the manipulation of a vehicle. 6. Vehicle Correction Skills: Being able to regain, or maintain, control of the vehicle when there is a loss of space management. 7. Desire for Excellence: Standards for excellence that are well defined and drivers who are motivated to achieve them.
