Founded in 1995 by six co-founders—Mark and Mo Constantine, Rowena Bird, Helen Ambrosen, Liz Bennett, and Paul Greeves—Lush began as a small cosmetics shop in Poole, Dorset, UK. Since then we have been pioneers in the beauty industry, committed to creating fresh, handmade products that are as kind to the planet as they are to your skin. We pride ourselves on using ethically sourced ingredients and developing cruelty-free, innovative products that challenge the status quo. Our dedication to environmental sustainability and ethical practices is embedded in everything we do.
At Lush, we strive to leave the world lusher than we found it. This means actively working to reduce our environmental footprint through packaging-free products and supporting causes that matter. We fight for animal rights, promote fair trade, and push for real, meaningful change in the beauty industry. Our mission is about more than products—it’s about changing the way the world sees beauty.
As a 10% employee-owned company, Lush values the contributions of every individual. Our team is the driving force behind our creativity, innovation, and commitment to a better future. By empowering our people and staying true to our mission, we continue to lead the charge for a more ethical, sustainable, and inclusive beauty industry.
SheaMoisture: Black founded & Black Led
Certified B Corp Hair & skin care made with fair trade ingredients and love
SheaMoisture is the legacy of founder and CEO Richelieu Dennis’ grandmother Sofi, who sold handcrafted shea butter soaps and salves in Sierra Leone to support her family, after she was widowed at a young age. Sofi became known as a healer throughout the countryside, and taught her recipes to her Richelieu.
Nubian Heritage had its humble beginnings in Harlem. After graduating from college, Richelieu and his best friend, Nyema Tubman, began selling their culturally authentic creations in Harlem as street vendors. Guided by the legacy of ancient Nubia, the world's first melting pot, we remix global healing traditions into modern wellness solutions.
Though our purpose-driven Community Commerce business model, SheaMoisture ethically sources shea butter from 15 women’s co-ops in Northern Ghana. We don’t just buy the women’s raw materials — we help them develop self-sustaining businesses. An ethical wage premium is paid to these enterprising women, and they become our partners, not just our suppliers. With their rise in income, they experience greater health, access to education and the benefits of financial freedom.
Mountain Rose Herbs offers high-quality organically grown herbs, spices, teas, essential oils, and botanical goods. Since 1987, we have been known for our uncompromising commitment to organic agriculture, fair trade standards, and sustainable business practices. Our core belief that people, plants, and planet are more important than profit guides everything we do.
If working for an ethically and environmentally minded business excites you, we’d love to have you join the team. We offer competitive wages and generous benefit packages including: health benefits, employee discounts, paid holidays, paid time off, paid volunteer time, 401(k), and more.
