MRG Foundation Information

MRG Foundation is Oregon's leading funder of social change organizing. Supported by hundreds of donors throughout the state, MRG strengthens Oregon's social justice movements through grantmaking, training and leadership development, and community education programs. MRG's unique activist-led grantmaking program empowers those most impacted by injustice to award over $750,000 each year to innovative groups advancing social, racial, economic, and environmental justice, with an emphasis on seed-funding and support for emerging groups. In 2015, MRG launched a Capacity Building Initiative, which works to build the scale and capacity of ten promising groups through a combination of technical assistance and grantmaking. The CBI builds on MRG's long history of training and supporting emerging groups rooted in communities of color and rural communities. MRG hosts community conversations on race, class, progressive philanthropy, and a range of other topics to spark dialogue leading to social change. MRG also works with other foundations to advance diversity and inclusion within their organization and identify strategies to move more money into communities of color.
