Mprg Information

MPRG is a world-class research center where students from different parts of the world with different backgrounds come together and work in teams, all having a common goal to strive to become the best in wireless. There is a common culture and language that we, the past and present students of MPRG, share and understand. It is not a culture that can be relegated to an obscure chapter in the annals of our fading memory but one that deserves to be preserved and cherished by all of us. During the last couple of months, we have been speaking to many of our MPRG colleagues in the industry. All of us unanimously agree that the graduates of MPRG should have a forum to keep in touch with each other and with the group that has offered us so much. With these thoughts in mind, we are happy to announce the creation of the MPRG Alumni Association. The mission of this association is "to provide a forum to support networking amongst the past graduates of MPRG with an objective of imbibing a spirit of unity among its members and assisting them in their professional development while promoting the cause of the Mobile and Portable Radio Research Group." As the mission explains, the members of the association should all work together and keep in touch. To make this possible, we are exploring the possibility of creating a web page linked to the MPRG home page. Other suggestions include starting a newsletter, publishing a year book with brief resumes and photographs of the graduates, conducting regional seminars and sponsored talks, etc. The association should promote the cause of MPRG by channeling its efforts toward helping new graduates from the group and providing research direction and support for MPRG. We have set up an organizational committee that will have Anil K. Doradla as the President, Rias Muhamed as the vice-president, Francis Dominique as the northeast coordinator and Dr. Ted Rappaport as the faculty advisor.
