Mount Nod Primary School is an inclusive school which is fully committed to supporting children with a variety of educational needs, including those with English as an additional language, learning difficulties and or physical disabilities. Our school is part of the Achievement for All programme that aims to raise the aspirations, access and achievement of pupils identified with SEND. Part of this is to ensure excellent communication and involvement of families in their child's education. Termly structured conversations ensure close and effective links between school and home which, in turn, support our pupils in attaining their best throughout school. We work very closely with outside agencies to ensure that individual needsare met and that parents are kept fully informed of their child's progress. Although some children may not have a specific educational need, at some stage in their development, children may need a dedicated learning programme to overcome any difficulties they encounter. The school has a clearly defined policy for approaches to helping children experiencing difficulties and conforms to the guidelines identified under the 'Code of Practice'(2002), for children with Special Educational Needs. Where we feel that children need help, parents are informed straight away so that we can work together. The school's SENCO (Special Needs Co-ordinator) regularly consults with staff to support and advise. If you believe your child has a specific need or you feel that they are experiencing problems, then we encourage you to discuss this with the school as soon as possible. The most recent Ofsted stated that: 'Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, given good support and work that is well matched to their needs, make good progress in all classes.'
