Mount Barker Primary School Information

Mount Barker Primary School, established in 1877, is situated in the thriving town of Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills. We are very proud to reflect on the achievements of our past and present students and have a strong and valued sense of tradition. Whilst we are located in central Mount Barker, our school oval is surrounded by natural bushland, providing opportunities for our students to interact with the local flora and fauna. As Mount Barker has grown over the last few years, so has our school. We have consolidated our reputation for inclusive programs and excellence in teaching and learning. At Mount Barker Primary, we have a strong focus on enhancing student well-being and developing a sense of belonging within classes and our whole school community. Every student at Mount Barker Primary School is welcomed and encouraged to reach their full potential. Our Student Well-being Leader supports students, parents and staff by providing strategies to increase well-being and offering advice about additional community agencies. Enrichment for all students is a priority and we offer extension and support programs in literacy and numeracy for identified students. Our school is committed to providing our students with many opportunities to flourish, including our annual whole school sports day, SAPSASA sports events, the annual school musical performance, Maths Olympiad participation, bi-annual Science Fair and a variety of school clubs. We engage with our local community by taking part in celebrations such as Anzac Day, entering items into the Mount Barker Show and participating in the Christmas Pageant. Mount Barker Primary is the host school for the regional centre for students with complex needs and their inclusion in our school community is celebrated.
