mots is a Romanian-German artist duo based in Germany working across immersive installation, film, interaction, and physical-digital sculpture. Their practice uses new media tools and AI not as a neutral technology, but as a performative social agent: a machine that judges, flatters, bureaucratizes, excludes, mediates. Through works such as AI & Me, Deutsch / Nicht Deutsch, The Pledge or Indirect Messages, they stage encounters where audiences confront how algorithmic systems interpret faces, language, belonging, compliance, and social exchange. Their work combines humor, discomfort, public participation, and operationally mature touring formats for festivals, museums, and civic contexts. Their work has been presented internationally and has been awarded the 2025 Lumen Prize Experiential Award, alongside Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards at the ADC Awards Germany in 2024 and 2025.
