Restoration Physiotherapy is an independent physical therapy practice in North and South Carolina, specializing in functional capacity evaluations for the workers' compensation community. A functional capacity evaluation is only as reliable as the effort behind it. Most FCEs produce a number; what an adjuster, case manager, or attorney needs to know is whether that number reflects maximal effort or demonstrated performance only. We classify effort using distraction-based cross-validation — methodology grounded in peer-reviewed validation that compares independent measurements across multiple test conditions to determine whether performance is internally consistent. Every evaluation results in a clear classification: maximal, submaximal, or equivocal. The result is a report defensible enough to act on: file decisions, return-to-work planning, claim valuation. With approximately 25 years of focused FCE practice, we serve carriers, third-party administrators, attorneys, case managers, and employers across the Carolinas. Adjacent services where the same evidence-based approach applies include work conditioning, job site analysis, pre-employment and post-offer testing, and acute physical therapy. Continuing education on distraction-based testing and effort verification is available for adjuster and case-management audiences.
