Mort & Co's operations at Grassdale, west of Toowoomba, is set to become Australia's most significant cattle feedlot with a job-creating and innovative $35 million expansion project. Supported by the Jobs and Regional Growth Fund, the expansion will increase the throughput of the feedlot by an additional 80,000 cattle per year. The project also includes the installation of a gas-fired power station and the construction of an innovative, fertiliser manufacturing facility. The project will create 34 new long-term operational jobs. Additionally, downstream meat producers have indicated around 115 full-time jobs will be created at regional abattoirs.
