Now in its ninth year, the Moritzburg Festival Academy under the artistic direction of violinist Mira Wang will once again provide young professional musicians with the unique opportunity to study with artists performing at the Festival. Thirty-eight young musicians from Asia, North America and Europe will come together to form the Festival Orchestra, take master-classes with Festival soloists, rehearse and challenge themselves for performances throughout the Festival. The 2014 Orchestra will be directed by legendary cellist and conductor, Heinrich Schiff. The orchestra headlines the Festival's opening concert featuring Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, K622 in A Major with soloist Daniel Ottensamer. As well, all Academy participants work on chamber music pieces and perform at the Proschwitz Music-Picnic and in the Long Night of Chamber Music on August 13 at which the 2014 Moritzburg Festival Academy Award, sponsored by the Friends of the Moritzburg Chamber Music Festival Association, will be presented.
