In 2016, in the wake of the Paris Agreement, we set out to prove that methane from cattle could be cut with a natural feed supplement, and to build the economics that would pay for it. We proved the science and we built the mechanism. Our garlic-and-citrus technology reduced enteric methane by up to 38%, validated at UC Davis, Purdue, Hannover, SRUC and Aberystwyth. In 2019, Verra approved VM0041, the world's first methodology for enteric methane reduction in livestock. Our CowCredits became the first carbon credits ever issued for cattle methane reduction, trading at multiples of forestry credits because they recorded reductions that had already happened. An entire industry followed. We take pride in that. We had the solutions. The market needed to pay for them had not yet arrived.
