MooseFS Information

MooseFS is a proven solution in the Big Data storage industry. This software-defined, distributed POSIX file system pools storage across commodity x86-64 and ARM servers into one fault-tolerant namespace that mounts like an ordinary file system. No specialized hardware, no vendor lock-in, and a very reasonable cost of ownership. The MooseFS team provides professional services and expert advisory for storage solutions, as well as implementation and support. MooseFS has been in production since 2005. Its original deployment stores over 6 PB of data and absorbs high-frequency event traffic, 24/7. Every solution offered to customers has been proven in a real-life environment first. Reads and writes happen in parallel across many storage nodes, so there is no central server or single network link to become the bottleneck. A single instance can grow up to 16 exabytes and over two billion files. Purpose-built mount clients are available for Linux, FreeBSD and macOS, along with a native Windows client. Version 5 adds geo-aware storage with per-location storage policies and enhanced I/O security. MooseFS is available as a free, open-source Community Edition, because good storage technology should be accessible to everyone. For enterprises that need advanced features and dedicated support, there is MooseFS Pro. Starting with version 5, Pro is also free for personal, non-commercial use.
