Montana Tech-College of Technology Information

The Montana School of Mines, now known as Montana Tech, was founded in 1896 and enrolled its first students in 1900. As the world of technology and innovation grew throughout the ensuing century, Montana Tech expanded its program offerings to evolve with it. Today, Montana Tech is recognized among America’s best values in undergraduate education. Montana Tech possesses an internationally esteemed, century-old tradition of excellence in higher education. There are four schools and colleges: School of Mines and Engineering; College of Letters, Sciences, and Professional Studies; Highlands College; and Graduate School.
