Founded in 1999, ModernRugs was among the first to bring rugs to the internet. What began as an online retailer has evolved into a custom rug design studio, shaped over two decades by the architects, interior designers, developers, and procurement teams who challenged us to create what couldn't be found elsewhere. Today, we partner with design professionals to develop made-to-order rugs for hospitality, workplace, retail, healthcare, luxury residential, and cultural environments. Every piece is designed specifically for the project it serves, responding to architecture, materiality, performance, and the people who will inhabit the space. Behind every commission is a global network of artisans and manufacturing partners we have worked alongside for more than three decades. Their expertise, combined with our design, engineering, and project management teams, allows us to translate ambitious ideas into rugs that are technically sound, beautifully crafted, and built to endure. From concept development and digital renderings to custom sampling, value engineering, and production, we work as an extension of each design team, making custom rugs approachable, collaborative, and dependable from the first conversation through installation.
