ModalAI® builds the open foundation of America’s drones. We design and build the core electronics inside our own aircraft — autopilot and flight computer, video and C2 radios, ESCs, power distribution, camera and sensor boards — and we sell those same components to other U.S. manufacturers. To our knowledge, no other American company does both. Our Blue UAS Framework autopilots and three Blue UAS Cleared aircraft (Stinger Vision FPV, Seeker Vision FPV 5" and 7") carry a high-performance computer on board and the open-source VOXL® SDK (code.modalai.com), so every drone can adapt to new missions in software, and any U.S. builder can start on our stack and transition to their own design on the same core. Built for the operator: new pilots are flying in minutes and proficient in hours. The modular MVX system lets one aircraft fly with goggles, a handheld display, or long-range Spire. Proven: ModalAI® was founded in 2018 by the Qualcomm® team behind Snapdragon Flight, technology that later flew on NASA JPL’s Ingenuity helicopter on Mars. VOXL® 2 was the founding autopilot of the Blue UAS Framework. In 2026, ModalAI® placed 4th in Drone Dominance Gauntlet I and top five in the close-quarters battle category in Gauntlet II. More than 1,000 partners build on VOXL, and leading U.S. defense research laboratories and national labs use our drones to develop advanced capabilities.
