MOB works with K-12 schools and communities in the Bay Area to empower African American students (particularly men) and provide a sense of community supporting their retention and college success. The proposed activity is to establish a sense of belonging for K-12 youth (especially males of color) rooted in mentorship, culture, and identity. While M.O.B. focuses on African-American men, the organization and activities are open to African American women and underrepresented populations. M.O.B outreach mentors are prepared and placed in the K-12 school to help youth build solid foundations for success in their current school and preparation for college and life.
