Mission Helpers Information

The Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart is a missionary community of Roman Catholic Sisters who serve the people of God through a wide spectrum of ministries located in inner cities, suburban parishes and rural villages. Our Sisters bring the gifts of faith and compassion to all that they do, meeting people wherever they are on life's journey, responding to their needs and making a difference, one life at a time. Ours is a community without walls. We have a long and unique tradition of service. Since 1890, we have responded to the changes and challenges of the Church and the world, bringing joy and hope to the lives of vulnerable people in all walks of life. The Mission Helpers' historic leadership position among women in the Church and in the field of religious education continues today throughout the United States as well as in Puerto Rico and Venezuela. We are missionaries-we go where God calls us. Each of our Sisters pursues her own unique calling. We are pastoral counselors, social workers, directors of religious education, and leaders in the field of telecommunications and Internet education. We also serve as pastoral administrators in parishes and dioceses across the country. We walk with the poor, the bereaved, the homeless, those facing death and those with addictions. We counsel people preparing for marriage, Confirmation, First Communion and those who seek to know more about the Catholic faith. We teach religion to children and help adults to grow in their faith. We bring Holy Communion to those unable to attend church, and we lead Communion Services in the absence of a priest. And, we teach both young and old about the love of God and the awesome, transformative power of that love.
