Miss World is longest running international celebration of beauty. Young women from around the world come together every year to vie for the coveted prize of being crowned Miss World. Miss World was founded in 1951 and introduced as part of the ‘Festival of Britain’ celebrations. The internationally acclaimed beauty contest draws in an annual audience of over a billion televised viewers. The reigning Miss World is Megan Young of the Philippines, who was crowned on the 27th of September in Bali Indonesia. Since 1972, the ethos of 'Beauty with a Purpose' has been a central theme to Miss World, encouraging everyone involved in the competition to raise nearly $1 billion for charitable causes around the world. Created by Julia Morley, every year Miss World contestants set up Beauty with a Purpose projects in more than 100 countries.
