Mishmash Information

MISHMASH is the artistic collaboration of Henk Bezemer and Frank van Oosten, based in Rotterdam. Since 1991 we have developed a multidisciplinary practice rooted in theatre, design and visual art. Today our focus is centred on our autonomous artistic work. Through paintings and assemblages we create layered narratives in which found objects, images and stories come together in unexpected ways. Humour, craftsmanship, observation and the dialogue between culture and nature play an important role in our work. Our background in theatre and spatial design continues to influence the way we think about composition and the experience of space. In addition to our own work, we occasionally initiate exhibition projects and collaborations that create meaningful encounters between artists, artworks and audiences. Mishmash is driven by curiosity, craftsmanship and a lifelong fascination with collecting, making and sharing. Artists since 1991.
