At Cats Protection we’re here for every cat. At the forefront of research on cat welfare, we use our decades of experience to support cat owners to keep their pets happy, healthy and safe. From creating a cat-friendly home, to understanding their behaviour, to fostering cats for anyone fleeing domestic abuse. We know that, for many people, their cat is part of the family. So our trained volunteer listeners are here to support anyone who’s dealing with the heartbreak of their cat’s death, a cat who has gone missing or difficult issues like euthanasia. We also offer cat owners peace of mind that, if they should pass away themselves, we’ll look after their cat and find them a loving new home. Helping people understand their cats better means we can often avoid the need for owners to give up their pets. But when rehoming is the right thing to do, we look after cats with care and kindness, and help them find a loving new place to stay. We campaign to make sure cats are not forgotten by decision makers, speaking out on issues like kitten smuggling and cat theft. And we run the world’s largest single-species neutering programme, for both pets and feral cats, to support a healthy and balanced cat population. Cat Adoption Team (CAT) is the Pacific Northwest’s largest nonprofit, feline-only animal shelter. Our mission is to save the lives of cats and to work with our community to provide feline expertise and quality programs and services for people and cats. Currently we achieve this mission by: • Providing shelter, medical care, evaluation, and treatment to cats who have become homeless • Finding homes for the cats and kittens in our care • Providing people who care for cats with resources, education, and support to help keep human-animal bonds strong and prevent cats from becoming homeless • Offering low-cost spay/ neuter services to support people in caring for their pet cats • Working closely with other organizations to implement projects and programs that positively impact cats and people at a community and regional level More than 60,000 cats and kittens have found loving new homes through the Cat Adoption Team since our founding in 1998. Those currently awaiting adoption receive daily care from a trained, dedicated group of staff and volunteers. CAT works closely with animal welfare organizations, animal control agencies, veterinary offices, and other shelters to care for and rehome cats or kittens who may otherwise face euthanasia. We are dedicated to finding the right home for every feline we take in. We believe everyone deserves the love, laughter, and companionship that cats bring into our lives. Our comfy Haven is a safe and welcoming place in the Colorado Springs area for scared cats to land, exceeding the definitions of both a no-kill and socially conscious animal shelter. In shelter parlance, we are labeled limited admission. However, we do our best to take in as many cats of all types as we have room for, including those with physical and behavioral needs. From the moment cats and kittens are rescued, we treat them with respect and positive handling to make their stay as fear free as possible. That care nurtures our visitors and volunteers too, who share in as much joyful kitty therapy as they give. Our supporters allow us to give both rescued cats and their people the precious gift of time: time to regain trust, time to relax and show their true personalities and all the time everyone needs to make the best match possible.
