Milestone Imports has been importing and distributing Porphyry in the United States and Canada since 1998. Today it is a leader in bringing exceptional value and service to our customers by representing Porphyry quarries from around the world including Italy, China, India, Mexico, Brazil and Patagonia. Porphyry is a natural volcanic igneous rock in the granite family. It is an ideal paving material for residential, commercial, civic and hospitality applications such as driveways, patios, sidewalks, parks and streets. Available in many sizes from cubes to pavers, Porphyry lends itself to an old world, hand-crafted look while meeting modern standards. As far back as the Egyptians and the Romans, Porphyry has been an important paving material because of its durability and beauty. Some of these ancient roads still exist today. The Romans were the first to set and specify standards for the setting of stone roadways. Porphyry can be set in concrete for a rigid application or over an engineered base course of gravels and sand for a flexible, permeable, low-impact application. When set correctly by either method, Porphyry meets ADA requirements for smoothness and slip resistance.
