“We see spatial design as a series of choreographed moments — shaped from the heart, where flow, emotion, and human experience come together.” — Mil MIL Design is an award-winning interior architecture and design studio founded in 2010 and based in Malaysia. The studio is driven by a people-centric, story-led approach — designing spaces as curated experiences rather than static interiors. Led by IDr Mak Mil Yung (RMIT University, Melbourne), MIL Design operates as a design-led studio working closely with its affiliated construction arm headed by Edward Lye (Murdoch University, Perth – Project Management), allowing for strong design authorship supported by delivery intelligence. With over 25 years of experience each, the founders bring depth across hospitality, sales galleries, commercial and education spaces, as well as highly bespoke, large-scale private residences commissioned by prominent individuals and institutions. The studio is commissioned by clients including Gamuda, Sunway, IJM, Avaland, OCR, Khazanah, and Nottingham University. Key works include the Gamuda Learning Centre & Enabling Academy (31,000 sq ft), bespoke homes for high-profile individuals like Mr Henry Golding, former Malaysia central bank governor and ongoing hospitality projects in the Maldives, alongside prior boutique hotel projects in Melaka and Cambodia. At the heart of the studio is a design approach grounded in listening — translating how people live, move, and gather into spaces with clarity, flow, and emotional resonance.
