On Monday, September 15, 2014, The Commission approved an application by Blackgold Broadcasting Inc. for a broadcasting licence to operate an English-language commercial FM radio station to serve Spruce Grove and Stony Plain. Parkland County’s FIRST locally-owned and operated radio station, 88.1 The One, launched on June 4, 2015. Friday, September 2, 2016. The CRTC approved the application by Blackgold Broadcasting Inc, to bring Ponoka its first and only FM Radio station. CKPA-FM "Ponoka's Best Country" will launch in Fall 2021. The One provides its audience content that has never been given before – local news & sports, local weather, and pertinent community information.
