Decagon was founded in 1983 by Dr. Gaylon Campbell, a renowned soil scientist at Washington State University. Dr. Campbell was (and is) an old-school physicist. When he wanted to measure something, he built an instrument to measure it. Other people wanted his creations, and eventually he couldn't keep up with the demand. Decagon was formed to build and sell his instruments. More than 25 years later, Decagon is a thriving company where research scientists still work to build what they and their colleagues need to do good research. Our goal: to get the data you need into your hands in the most efficient and accurate way possible.

The new data streams complement our field-proven layer-by-layer crop and soil intelligence to help growers optimize their application of fertilizers to apply the right amount at the right time. AquaSpy's foundational soil moisture monitoring technology is deployed in 16 countries, with 130 dealers and large growers, on 990,000 managed acres. AquaSpy has collected over 38 billion data points on seasonal crop behavior, soil moisture, temperature, and salinity for essentially every type of permanent, row, and specialty crops.
